Together, acting sustainably, innovatively, holistically and courageously to future-proof our city
City/Region : City of Geestland , Germany

Geestland does not just work on one of the ten agendas of the Basque Declaration, but instead takes a more holistic approach. Since 2005, this has been a continuous process that can be seen across all the work of the municipality and not just in individual projects.

First and foremost cooperation with all partners (citizens, politicians, other Authorities and Institutions, Companies) of the City is the most important thing. The city is desgined together with its citizens to ensure its sustainability. The local people are the biggest asset to acheive something.

Rural transformation process - Welcome Region Northern Emsvalley
City/Region : Northern Emsvalley/Nördliches Emstal , Germany

The Welcome Region Northern Emsvalley welcomes people from all over the world, refugees, migrant workers, but also migrants within Germany, who want to live and work in the region. In a social transformation process, responsible mayors, the emsländischer Heimatbund association and actors of civil society have initiated systemic and structural changes in four fields of action: politics/administration, art/culture, economy/work, civil society/participation/digitalisation. In these fields projects and processes are developed and implemented in six areas relevant to social inclusion: legal issues, e.g. the right to work and housing, language, labour market integration, families, social cohesion, public relations and methods necessary for transformation.

Showcasing urban farming using modern cultivation techniques in a public space in Heidelberg
Organisation : Aponix vertical barrel, Heidelberg , Germany

Showcasing soil-less urban farming as an initiator of local food production and distribution combining permaculture activities (will be done by NaBu Germany on the same spot) and modern soilless cultivation methods through citizen engagement/co-creation establishing a local food-network/food hub. The idea is to show technical innovation in an urban hands-on social context and educate citizens about material flows (circular economy principles) and the impact of local food with regard to freshness and varieties (=quality and nutrition) and the difference with regard to the established value chains (mainly through supermarkets) in terms of resource footprint.

Circular Economy (CE) Grey Literature Database and Knowledge Exchange Platform
Organisation : Wong Barton International (UG) , Germany

CE grey literature is often overlooked and forgotten content that is prone to link rots and likeliness to disappear. There is no database to find CE grey literature and the only way to find is by using conventional search engines which often returns errors, irrelevant search results and sometimes data breach. We want to fix this problem and we pioneer the world’s largest CE grey literature database and knowledge exchange platform.

Let's "cup2gether" - circular cup initiative to foster climate protection and sharing economy
Organisation : Cup2gether , Germany

In our city Frankfurt, we have to face 25 million single use cups per year becoming waste. There are some highly committed people bringing own cups or avoiding coffee-to-go, but most of us got used to mobile consumption - we don't want to change culture by prohibition, we want to establish a culture which desires for sustainable solutions. So we started an initiative called "cup2gether" that activated local ambassadors for a circular cup system with a regional produced cup (made of leavings from paper industry, natural resources). We started as official "90-days-challenge" against municipality. Now we established the citywide system.
